High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) by Ulthera®
Ultrasound skin tightening, also popularly known as Ultherapy/Ulthera®, is a breakthrough procedure utilising High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for non-surgical, non-invasive cosmetic improvement of the skin. The HIFU ultrasound energy or Ulthera® penetrates and works deep below the skin surface without harming the outer layer of skin. The end result is dramatic and long-lasting benefits of facial firming, skin tightening and lifting.*
The HIFU ultrasound energy or Ulthera® will give you improvement around the eyes include lifting of the brow line to reduce droopiness on the eyelids, smoothing of crow’s feet, and a more open, refreshed look to the eyes in general.*
Sagging skin on the cheeks can also be tightened and lifted, which in turn can improve folds from the nose to mouth, folds from the mouth to jaw, and drooping corners of the mouth.* Often, a more defined jaw line (resulting in a V-Face shape) and overall improvement in skin texture and evenness of colour are known additional benefits.*
How does Ulthera® work?
Ulthera® is safe for all skin types. Any patient who has experienced some sagging of their skin will benefit from this treatment. It is likely that if your sagging is severe, you may need a repeated treatment for visible results.
Ulthera® works by delivering low levels of focused heat at just the right depth below the skin to achieve a lifting effect, leaving the surface of your skin undisturbed and undamaged. Your body’s response to the HIFU energy is an increased growth of new collagen within the skin. As a result, a gradual tightening occur, ultimately resulting in a natural lift and conditioning of the skin over time.
How is the procedure like?
Patients may feel a warm prickly sensation beneath the skin when the ultrasound energy is being delivered into the target tissue. The procedure takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes. You are able to return to your normal activities right away, and you can apply makeup if needed. Your skin may be slightly red immediately after the treatment, but any redness will subside within a few hours.
How many treatments will I need?
Only 1 treatment a year or at most 2 treatments 6 months apart are recommended.*
What areas of the face and neck are treated?
Ulthera® can be done on any part of your face including the forehead, temples, mid and lower face, and jaw line. In some cases, the neck is also treated. The most popular treatment is the full face, neck, and defined jawline treatment.
What kinds of results can I expect?
The regenerative process may be noticed immediately such that some patients may be able to see initial lifting of the skin.* However, the full effect will build gradually over two to three months and some patients will see optimal results only after a few months.*
In clinical trials for ultrasound frequency (HIFU) for non-invasive and non-surgical face lift such as in Ulthera®, patients had a noticeable, significant lift of the brow line.* This resulted in opening up of the eyes and a more youthful appearance overall.* Patients also reported firmer, tighter, better-fitting skin in other areas of the face and neck as well.* Smoother texture and a more even skin colour are also possible side benefits.*
We have both treatments because in reality, Thermage® and Ulthera® treats different things. Thermage removes the wrinkles from your skin.* On the other hand, Ulthera® solves the problem of saggy and droopy skin by giving the skin a lifting effect.* Thermage and Ulthera® thus work together, hand in hand to give a holistic 3D Face Lift by removing wrinkles and lifting saggy / droopy skin.*
*Note: As this is a medical procedure, results & outcomes are not guaranteed and may vary from person to person.
